USB Conference Speakerphone: Unstable USB supply power | Auckland
Pattern to record: Disconnects coincide with camera activation, speaker volume or other USB loads.
Trace video, input and output separately
Test the speakerphone’s playback, microphone and mute controls separately. This guide concerns USB mode; a model that also offers Bluetooth must be diagnosed in the mode actually used during the call. One possible explanation is that voltage drops or noise disrupts the audio or video device.
Compare the failing connection
- Test input and output separately, compare another host and inspect USB power stability.
- Monitor host power behaviour and compare a powered approved connection.
Before changing the setup
Avoid maximum volume tests when audio is distorted or the unit is hot. Unverified powered hubs can back-feed the computer.
Restore the intended function
If the checks support this cause, repair the host port, cable or power arrangement. Verification should cover microphone, speaker, mute controls, call software, reconnect and sleep.
For an assessment of your computer and speakerphone, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
