USB Conference Speakerphone: Damaged audio-video cable | Auckland
Pattern to record: Movement causes repeatable picture or sound interruption.
Trace video, input and output separately
Test the speakerphone’s playback, microphone and mute controls separately. This guide concerns USB mode; a model that also offers Bluetooth must be diagnosed in the mode actually used during the call. One possible explanation is that internal conductors are fractured or shielding has failed.
Compare the failing connection
- Test input and output separately, compare another host and inspect USB power stability.
- Compare a known cable and inspect strain-relief areas.
Before changing the setup
Avoid maximum volume tests when audio is distorted or the unit is hot. Taping a fractured high-speed cable does not restore integrity.
Restore the intended function
If the checks support this cause, replace the cable or captive lead assembly. Verification should cover microphone, speaker, mute controls, call software, reconnect and sleep.
For an assessment of your computer and speakerphone, contact AEPC in Burswood or call 027 908 8880. Provide the model and the conditions that reproduce this problem. Workshop visits are by appointment.
