MacBook Air Apple-Silicon Power Path: Sleep-wake state latch | Auckland
Pattern to record: The Mac appears dead after sleep but behaves differently after all power states are cleared.
Use the correct Mac power design
Use the exact Apple-silicon MacBook Air model to identify its charging ports and supported adapter. A black display alone does not prove the Mac is unpowered; check for other startup signs before pursuing the input circuit. One possible explanation is that a controller or peripheral state prevents a complete wake or fresh startup.
Power and data precautions
Mac batteries and logic boards must be isolated with model-appropriate procedures. Repeated forced shutdowns can corrupt open files.
Model-specific checks
- Verify the correct charger, inspect all ports and separate display absence from true no-power behaviour.
- Compare true shutdown, sleep, external display and peripheral-free startup.
Repair and startup verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the firmware, peripheral or board condition that repeatedly traps the state. Verification should cover cold start, charging on each supported port, battery operation, sleep, wake and restart.
