MacBook Air Apple-Silicon Power Path: Power-management sequencing fault | Auckland
Pattern to record: The Mac begins startup current draw but stops at a repeatable stage.
Use the correct Mac power design
Use the exact Apple-silicon MacBook Air model to identify its charging ports and supported adapter. A black display alone does not prove the Mac is unpowered; check for other startup signs before pursuing the input circuit. One possible explanation is that a required supply rail appears late, unstable or not at all.
Power and data precautions
Mac batteries and logic boards must be isolated with model-appropriate procedures. Replacing a complex power IC without finding its trigger can repeat the failure.
Model-specific checks
- Verify the correct charger, inspect all ports and separate display absence from true no-power behaviour.
- Record the power sequence and compare prerequisite signals before replacing the PMIC.
Repair and startup verification
If the checks support this cause, repair the failed supply or control condition identified by sequence testing. Verification should cover cold start, charging on each supported port, battery operation, sleep, wake and restart.
