All-in-One Computer Ethernet Interface: Cable strain damage | Auckland
Pattern to record: Brief movement causes link loss despite an otherwise good cable.
Separate the adapter from the network
Identify whether Ethernet is built into the all-in-one or supplied through an external adapter. Compare the rear connector with a known cable and switch port before opening the display assembly. One possible explanation is that a broken latch or side load keeps the plug from maintaining contact.
Link and configuration checks
- Compare link before Windows loads, inspect the rear port and test another switch connection.
- Inspect plug retention and port shell alignment under gentle handling.
Before internal work
All-in-one internal mains sections require trained handling. Taping a loaded cable can transfer force into motherboard solder joints.
Verify the network path
If the checks support this cause, replace the cable and repair a loose port before further use. Verification should cover link speed, sustained traffic, camera or video workload, sleep and restart.
