Laptop Gets Hot During Video Calls? Cooling and Apps Both Matter
Video calls can make a laptop work harder than expected. Camera processing, browser tabs, screen sharing, Wi-Fi, background apps and charging can all add load. If the laptop gets hot, loud or slow during calls, both cooling and software should be considered.
Start by closing unnecessary apps and browser tabs. Use the laptop on a hard surface and keep vents clear. If the fan still races or the keyboard area becomes very hot, dust or cooling issues may be involved.
Battery and charger role
Some laptops run warmer while charging. A weak battery or charger issue can add instability. If the laptop shuts down during calls or the charger gets unusually hot, stop treating it as only a software problem.
Camera and microphone problems during calls can also involve drivers or hardware near the screen hinge.
Check before important meetings
Test webcam, microphone, Wi-Fi and battery before relying on the laptop for work or study.
